The Moonah Arts Centre acknowledges that we are on mouheneenner country. MAC recognises the value of continuing Aboriginal knowledge and cultural practice and acknowledges the contemporary Tasmanian Aboriginal community who continue to maintain their Indigenous rights, identity, and their ancient and irreplaceable culture.
Moonah Arts Centre (MAC) is a regional focus for arts and cultural development in Glenorchy City and across southern Tasmania. Owned and operated by Glenorchy City Council, MAC aims to enrich the local community by providing accessible and affordable arts and cultural experiences. MAC’s new, contemporary, state of the art facility promises to surprise and delight people of all ages.
‘Whether you’re mad about art, or know little about it, MAC provides the perfect place to meet, connect and engage in art at all levels.’
A ‘once in a lifetime’ investment has seen MAC move into a brand new, purpose built space on Albert Road. Here, MAC will continue to provide accessible, affordable arts and cultural experiences to the local community for decades to come.
MAC is a flexible multi-arts resource for the 21st Century. MAC is a warm, welcoming space for working artists and patrons alike. Designed by local architects Morrison Breytenbach, the remarkable new centre allows activity to be scaled up or down as required. Enjoy outdoor courtyards, generous social spaces and purpose built art spaces.
The new arts centre building, situated on Albert Road, opened in 2015.
