MAC has a range of purpose built creative spaces, designed for different arts and cultural activity. MAC welcomes proposals that use one or multiple spaces.

MAC spaces have access to:

  • Hearing loops built into our main public spaces

Gallery
Exhibition / Display Spaces

MAC offers a number of purpose built gallery spaces with flexible layouts. Applications for exhibitions are generally accepted each July for exhibitions taking place in the following year.

Exhibit Space – MAC’s large exhibition space measures 10m x 9.6m, and has movable walls allowing for flexible layouts.

Project Space – MAC’s smaller exhibition space  measures 3.3m x 9.6m.

Main Space (Exhibit & Project spaces combined) – The two exhibition spaces can be combined, creating an area of 128m².

Corridor Space – A corridor space outside our Meeting Room is suitable for solo artists wishing to show work for up to three months, with approximately 18m x 4m of wall space.

Performance Screen Space
Performance & Screen Space

The Performance/Screen Studio (up to 150 guests seated, depending upon your required stage area) is the largest of  MAC’s spaces and the most flexible in terms of potential uses. The floor space is 17.6m x 9.6m with a lighting grid at 6.2M. The space is equipped to support everything from a small film festival to an aerial circus workshops and intimate music concert.

There is no fixed staging and no permanent seating banks. A default end staging configuration can seat up to 150 people. An unseated informal musical event, opening onto the foyer and internal courtyard could cater for up to 200 people. The space can operate from natural daytime light to full black out. The Studio has an in-house audio system, full LED stage lighting across a ceiling grid, and large screen projection capacity.

Makers Workshop
Makers Workshop

The Makers Workshop is located at the street entrance front of the Centre and is available for practical classes and workshop activities, with a particular focus on visual arts, craft, and digital workshop activity. The light and airy space features glass doors opening onto an internal courtyard enabling inside/outside activities. There is also ready access to a kitchenette.

The Workshop has a floor area of 9.8m x 6.8m and can accommodate six large work tables. Additional features include a ceiling mounted overhead projector, whiteboards and pin boards and a large sink unit for wet activities. While the number of people that this space will comfortably accommodate depends of the nature of your activity, the maximum occupancy is 50 people.

Foyer
Meeting & Social Spaces

MAC is a great place to meet with friends, enjoy an arts event, exhibition or workshop. We have a number of informal outdoor and indoor spaces for you to relax and enjoy and catch up with what’s on.

Social Spaces
 – Our light filled foyer is a great place to meet and relax with friends or just to hang out. A stylish food and beverage bar is positioned at the front of the building and is available for catering at our many and varied events.

Meeting Spaces – If you’re looking for a comfortable, flexible and contemporary space to hold a formal or informal meeting, MAC’s meeting space is available to local businesses to hire. The Meeting Room (up to 12 people) is a sunny north facing room with a large boardroom table for twelve people. It has a floor area of 5.6m by 5.1m. The room is equipped with a ceiling mounted overhead projector and drop down projector screen. The room may also be reconfigured to operate as a temporary production office or
training/small seminar room.
