When ceremony meets tradition, our hearts erupt in silent fireworks. From music and voice in the soundshell, dance and sing-alongs on the grass and creative happenings in the Holiday Village through to the tiny flames we shelter together in the shared 1 Minute of Silence just before dark and the parade of lanterns, the 2017 Glenorchy Carols will give us moments that make us laugh, make us gasp, make us hold our breath, and might even make us take each other’s hands for the coming year.
Glenorchy Carols is wheelchair accessible, will have live captioning and Auslan interpretation.

Volunteer at Glenorchy Carols!
Vollywood is the fun, festive, larger-than-life, can-do team that will make Glenorchy Carols a not so silent night! We have a variety of Vollywood positions to suit everyone looking to be part of the event. We are looking for happy, enthusiastic volunteers who are at least 16 years old. Some positions may require volunteers to spend time on their feet and be outside for periods of time. Vollywood shifts are around 4 hours.
Please have a chat with us if you would like to find out more about each of the positions – we’d love to hear from you!
In the Holiday Village everyone is an artist, joined by a common aspiration to live passionately and creatively. This is where kids and their families can be inspired, reinvigorated and re-energised. Activities include mask-making, card making and lantern and making. Ideal for artsy and crafty vollies! You must hold a current working with vulnerable people (child related activity) card.
Run, jump and have fun! On the Sporting Fields kids and families can kick/pitch a ball with local teams or have a go at riding a crazy bicycle (a psych-le!). You must hold a current working with vulnerable people (child related activity) card.
Keep Tolosa Park beautiful – the Green Army coordinates the bins and recycling for the event.
The Way Finders are the smiling faces of the event – be on the ground to help people find their way to the activities, performances, facilities and car park.
Want to be part of it? Fill in the online registration form, then come along Saturday 2 December to collect your Vollywood kit and meet the crew!
