The Moonah Arts Centre acknowledges that we are on Muwinina country. We recognise the value of continuing Aboriginal knowledge and cultural practice and acknowledge the contemporary Tasmanian Aboriginal community who continue to maintain their Indigenous rights, identity, and their ancient and irreplaceable culture.
Moonah Arts Centre (MAC) is a regional focus for arts and cultural development in Glenorchy City and across southern Tasmania. Owned and operated by Glenorchy City Council, MAC aims to enrich community by providing accessible and affordable arts and cultural experiences. MAC’s contemporary, state of the art facility promises to surprise and delight people of all ages.
‘Whether you’re mad about art or know little about it, MAC provides the perfect place to meet, connect and engage in art at all levels.’
In 2015, a ‘once in a lifetime’ investment saw MAC move from Hopkins Street into a brand new, purpose-built space on Albert Road. Here, MAC will continue to provide accessible, affordable arts and cultural experiences to the local community for decades to come.
MAC is a flexible multi-arts resource for the 21st Century. MAC is a warm, welcoming space for working artists and patrons alike. Designed by local architects Morrison Breytenbach, the remarkable new centre allows activity to be scaled up or down as required. Enjoy outdoor courtyards, generous social spaces and purpose-built art spaces.
‘Whether you’re looking to host a major visual arts exhibition, an informal music event, or an aerial circus workshop — we cater for everyone.’
