Between The Lines Tour
Stella Anning and Michael J Brady

Doors 7pm, Friday 30 May

Tickets $20-$25

Renowned jazz musicians, Stella Anning (Melbourne) and Michael J Brady (Sydney) join together onstage to perform a series of original compositions that capture the spirit of collaboration and showcase their dynamic improvisational roots.

During a transformative residency in Canada last year, the duo bonded over their cohesive songwriting style and shared experience of transitioning from jazz guitarist to singer/songwriter. This meeting of musical minds inspired an ongoing collaboration, producing a series of compositions informed by an eclectic musical background in folk, jazz, soul and chamber music.

This work has become the Between the Lines national tour, where Anning and Brady will perform it for Lutruwita/Tasmania for one night only at Moonah Arts Centre on May 30.

Song-writing Workshop

6:30pm, Thursday 29 May

Tickets $30-$40

While here, Stella Anning and Michael J Brady will share a song-writing workshop, exploring their prompt-based techniques for generating material and how to develop these initial seeds into full songs.

In the song-circle format, participants can share their creations and perspectives with one another.

Both Anning and Brady’s craft as songwriters is informed by an eclectic musical background and this workshop will provide a space to explore what song writing can look like across artistic lines.

All participants in this workshop will receive a $5-off ticket code to Stella and Michael’s performance on Friday 30 May 7pm. This will be emailed to you once you have purchased your workshop ticket. If you need assistance, please email hkvermeulen@gcc.tas.gov.au
