7:30pm Thurs 9 Nov, Free Entry
Mental health is a huge issue in today’s society. While the problem is more visible than ever before, there’s perhaps too much of a “one size fits all” approach to the many different communities that make up our amazing state. We think it’s time for the creative sector to come together, to look after one another, and examine ways to better support creatives. If we tackle mental health issues head-on throughout our local community, with ideas and support that suits our sector, we can not only strengthen the creative sector, but also the community at large.
This event is your chance to be involved the conversation.
Our panel members are:
Christopher Coleman – Musician
Anna Kidd – Actor/Comedian
Wayne Brookes – Visual Artist/Teacher
Renee Valentino – Registered Psychologist
Jessie Armitage – Registered Psychologist
Sarah Lovell – Tasmanian Labor MLC/Shadow Minister for Mental Health
The evening will be moderated by Katherine Hough – former Director of Arts Tasmania and current Volunteer Speaker for Beyond Blue.
The night will be split into two halves, the first being a guided panel discussion, and the second an open session taking questions and contributions from audience members.
During our intermission period, Varuni Kulasekera will be running a short mindfulness workshop.
This is the final event of Creatively Mental, supporting mental health in the Tasmanian creative arts community.
