Isabella Grassi

Exhibition Dates: Friday 19 June – Saturday 18 July 2026

Exhibition Launch: 5.30pm, Thursday 18 June

Isabella Grassi explores the symbolism and historical meaning of the shroud cloth, a garment used to wrap a deceased person for burial. The cloth conceals and obscures it’s subject. In this exhibition, Isabella similarly controls what is revealed to the viewer, reflecting how concealment and visibility have been imposed upon women within religion throughout history.

Isabella is an emerging artist studying a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Tasmania. Her practice examines political and cultural issues, drawing on her experience of growing up within the Catholic education system and how this has shaped her relationship with religion.

Entry to the galleries is free.
