For Aboriginal Tasmanians Country music is Island Music.
From the dance nights on Cape Barren to the pubs of Launceston and Hobart many people grew up with country music. Along with the traditional songs of the Islands ( like “Old Cape Barren”) Hank Williams is central to that experience, as he is to many indigenous people.
In Tasmania, Uncle Dougie Mansell has been singing Country for most of his life and he’s been passing the old songs onto grandson Codie. To launch their CD “Travel Down this Road with Me” they are celebrating the songs of Hank Williams with friends, including a guest performance by Uncle Bob Wilson.
Join us in a night of guitars, fiddle and great songs like “Cold Cold Heart”, “I Saw the Light”, “Lonesome Whistle”, “Sing Me back Home” and “Cheating “Heart.
Show starts at 6pm, doors and bar open from 5pm.
$5 on the door / kids under 12 free
