Jiniah is a Year 10 student in the Big Picture program at Montrose Bay High School.

When he was younger he wasn’t really popular and found it difficult learning at school. Having no friends or skills led him to just draw things out of boredom. Eventually he just got better at it, not really meaning to but when you spend 12 years drawings randomly all alone that gives you enough time to practice and learn.

Jiniah draws subconsciously, especially when he is bored. He never really has a plan when drawing. He just grabs his pencil and starts drawing whatever on anything; a tissue, cardboard or newspaper.

Jiniah’s mood effects what he draws as well. If he is happy then he might draw something upbeat and colourful. If he is sad or angry he might draw vent art which usually contains graphic and depressing themes. His mood influences what he draws. It’s really just a way for Jiniah to express his emotions.
