A. Moonah Arts Centre
Styx Lament – SymbioLab
Styx Lament took place in an area of clear felled old-growth forest in the Styx Valley in November 2019, as a collaborative and embodied approach to environmental grief. A performance ritual exploring listening and lament as acts of sonic activism, rendering the senses receptive to place, exploring relations of care at a site of destruction.
Deep Surface – India Kenning
Deep Surface explores the fragility and impermanence of the natural landscape of lutruwita/Tasmania. Through study of local material elements sourced from significant sites around the island, the artist experiments with formulating natural pigments and colour.
Over a Period of Time – Imelda Rose and Lyell Hoskinson
A collection of paintings and drawings created over the past 40 years by local Claremont artists Imelda Rose and Lyell Hoskinson.
B. The Albert Brewery and Taproom
Art Crawlers Only – 50 per cent off
Brewed to be enjoyed by all, The Albert offers a range of authentic lager beers that are meticulously made with passion and precision. All crawlers holding an official crawl identification (found out Moonah Arts Centre) will receive 50 per cent off during the hours of the crawl.
C. Artosaurus Gallery and Studios
Exposed Transaction – Candice Broderick
Candice Broderick is an emerging Tasmanian artist whose painting practice is centered around the abstraction of everyday life. Exposed Transaction reveals the mundanity of spaces that we are immersed within.
Artosaurus is a gallery and runs an art studio focusing on artist pathways through art classes and workshops. Find something unique in the giftshop, with original artworks, homewares, jewellery, ceramics, t-shirts, zines and more. Maybe a Candice Broderick painting will be the next addition to your personal collection?
D. Moonah Hotel & Cellars
Exhibition and Wine Tasting – Artist Josh Andre, Sonnen Wine + Two Tonne Tas / Woodlawn Park
Joshua Andree is a landscape painter working in nipaluna/Hobart. His paintings address the dramatic and changing faces of the coastlines of lutruwita Tasmania, their deep and ancient histories and personal connection to place.
Joining Josh at the Moonah hotel and cellars for the Moonah Art crawl are wine makers Luke Andree (Sonnen Wine) and Ricky Evans (Two Tonne Tas/ Woodlawn Park) whom Josh recently collaborated with for their label designs. The original charcoal drawings will be on display alongside tastings of the wines. The two will present their unique perspective on landscape against the back drop of Josh’s paintings.
E. Moon Cave
Group Show – Icky Brothers, Erin Linhart, Leigh Rigozzi and more.
A group show of the artists who are contributing to a future lutruwita project. This group will be launching the book that makes up the main part of this project in July with a show at Haus of Vovo.
