An immersive theatre experience and workshop for young people

Written and performed by local physical theatre artist and actor, Jem Nicholas

TWO LIVE SHOWS:

6 – 7pm Friday 24 April and
6 – 7pm Saturday 25 April

Tickets: Young People (Under 16) & Concession: $15 + BF
General Admission: $20 + BF

This is Morph: an immersive theatre experience combining clowning, comedy, storytelling, puppetry and movement. Follow the journey of one shape-shifting woman as she asks the question, “what happens if theatre disappears?” and embarks on a quest to save it!

What begins as a straightforward adventure story, slowly starts to unravel and transform – songs pop-up out of nowhere, clowns misbehave, puppets take over the stage, animals run wild and audience members are invited to get involved!

Written and performed by local physical theatre artist, Jem Nicholas, Morph is for anyone who has ever pretended, performed or felt the thrill of becoming someone (or something) else.

•  Suitable for adults and young people aged 10-years-old and above.

•  This is a seated event.

•  Duration is 60 minutes

KIDS WORKSHOP:

12-2pm Saturday 25 April (ages 10-16)

Participation: $30 per person

Join local physical theatre artist and actor, Jem Nicholas, for an introduction to “morphing”, a technique whereby actors learn how to transform themselves into different characters.

Participants will learn how to warm up their bodies and voices for stage acting. We then enter the world of morphing by becoming characters from the animal kingdom – finding the movements of lizards, the sounds of lions, etc. Participants will then be invited to create their own characters, exploring how they may move through the world!

Open to all young people who love the thrill of transforming into a character, this is a joyful and inclusive workshop – encouraging play, movement and creativity!

•  Suitable for young people aged 10 to 16

All workshop participants will be awarded a $5 discount to attend either of Jem Nicholas’ live shows, Morph at 6pm-7pm Friday 24 and Saturday 25 April at Moonah Arts Centre.

All workshop participants must complete a Workshop Participant Form before arriving on the day.
