Event Details

This exhibition explores the temporal act of writing, erasing and re-writing one’s story in paint. A cathartic process that allows one to let go, clearing the mind and body. Release is an exploration of trauma on the feminine which contemplates the hidden complexities of the mind. Through a process of making, Amanda observes rapid thought patterns, transcribing these into the work and re-writing her memories.

Amanda Kay is a multidisciplinary contemporary artist who has produced multiple works for public space and private collections. This is her first solo exhibition and over the past three years she has delved deep into the creation of this work, emerging with a new contemporary style. Born from a darker shade of ones mind she has transformed her experience through the act of writing.

Amanda has exhibited in numerous group shows, with objects, fine art and digital works. Her poetry has been published in ‘Artscapes’ by Wolfgang Glowacki and in recent years she has produced public artworks throughout Australia. Her public artworks are produced as part of T3D Studios, with permanent installations integrated into the built environment. These include sculptures, balustrades, bi-fold doors, windows, large scale murals, digital artworks and participatory artworks.

This project was made possible by the Australian Government Regional Arts Fund, which supports the arts in regional and remote Australia and Arts Tasmania.
