EXHIBITION
Judy Jackson’s current practice in printmaking and painting emerges from sketches and stories of 19th-21st century Tasmanian history. This exhibition delves into time and place through a colonial perspective, looking at where people worked and lived in nipaluna/Hobart. Remember When explores the early industrial transport systems and the lives of new Australians employed in this industry.
ARTIST TALK
Join us on the final day of our current exhibitions for a floor talk with artists Halima Bhatti, Judy Jackson and Joshua Andree.
12pm, Saturday 5 August
Free event, all welcome
Halima Bhatti is a calligraphy artist, her works are deeply poetic and are steeped in meditational practices, drawing from Arabic and Urdu quotations, verses from Holy Quran, and Sufi poems.
Judy Jackson has been interpreting the world around her through art for much of her life. Fascinated by both the natural and built environment, Jackson enjoys creating her own versions of history through narratives of promise, joy and bustling reflection.
Joshua Andree investigates through oil painting the landscape of the Island State of Tasmania, particularly looking at the atmospheric relationships between land, sky and sea.
