Event Details

SeaWorthy investigates the dynamic relationship between the hull of a boat and the water body it traverses.
This installation uses boat building methods for shaping timber to take ‘relief casts’ from the hull’s of existing vessels – which when abstracted, mimic the shape of either hull or wave. Amassing in the gallery, this installation physically and metaphorically draws out the threshold space and relationships between boat+water / air+sea / human+non-human.
SeaWorthy is motivated by reframing our relationship with water – considering themes of oceanic immensity alongside our responsibilities to better care for and encourage respectful cohabitation with water spaces.
