Event Details
What is a place beyond a point on a map? Our physical environment has long been a focus for artists and a subject rich in exploration and interpretation. Somewhere here represents a snapshot of the ways artists in nipaluna/Hobart respond to place through different mediums, including painting, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture and textile.
Collectively, the works consider the histories and memories embedded in a location, real or imaginary, and the connection between self and the environment. Some move far beyond traditional frames of place or “landscape”, revealing place as an event, as well as a collection of tangible materials.
Artists: Caroline Amos, Priscilla Beck, Adrian Bradbury, Linda Erceg, Jesse Eynon, Andrew Halford, Anna Hall, Peter Maarseveen, Ken Mitchell, John Robinson, Rebecca Sutton, Jane Theile, Jeni Wallwork, Peter Young.
