Event Details
Opening Thurs 31 Oct, 6pm
Exhibition runs Fri 25 Oct – Sat 16 Nov
Open Tuesday – Friday 10am – 5pm, Saturday 11am – 3pm
Imagine a future where we have to reconstruct the world from an incomplete set of Earth’s pieces – substituting nature to suit a cracked version of humanity in a puzzle of blind vanity.
Angela Casey’s The Nature of Falling Light adopts the visual aesthetics and symbolism of Dutch Vanitas painting and Victorian era culture while exploring current global environmental and existential issues.
Angela’s photographic still life images feature a combination of objects – some sourced from museums and private collections, others from disposable and recyclable popular culture.
These works present us with a powerful warning. Our insatiable hunger is hurtling us towards an increasingly dystopian world. Hedonism has run out of credit.
It is time for us to change the ending of this story.
