2017 was an immense year of filmmaking for Transistor Youth Arts and we would like to celebrate the immense achievements, talent and inspiration of the young people who created so many amazing films last year.
FEATURING
The World Premier of four films made as part of Transistor Film:
The participants of this program were aged 11-16. Each team raised funds for their films via successful Pozible campaigns and received funding from the Premier’s Discretionary Fund and support from Hobart City Council’s Youth ARC, Salamanca Arts Centre and the University of Tasmania’s Media Lab.

The World Premiere of CODE BLUE films:
- Sombra, written and Directed by Phoenix Rain
- The Quizzard, written by Jean Henderson and Directed by Bailey Jackson.
These films were funded by Hobart City Council’s Community Grants Program and supported by Youth ARC and The Link. Hobart’s first Screenings of Film Greenhouse Films The Insider Vision These Films screened at REMADE’S 2017 Show and were funded by Launceston City Council’s Community Grants, made in partnership with Big Picture Launceston and supported by Interweave Arts.
Films made as part of the Script to Screen holiday program at Moonah Arts Centre:
- The Watchers Flashback
- Frightened Kicks
Films made as part of the Summer Comedy Program at Kingborough Council:
- History Class Mr. Griffiths Murder Mystery
As mentioned earlier this has been an immense year for Transistor Film, so much so that we have made more films than we have time to present. We’d also like to acknowledge the great web series THE MEMES that was made this year and had it’s screening in October and the four films made at Dunnalley Primary School that were screened in December.
