Unstable

Artist: Helen Spencer

Friday 20 February – Saturday 14 March

Exhibition Launch: 5.30pm, Thursday 19 February

Artist Talk — 12pm, Saturday 21 February 2026

Unstable explores the enduring impact of trauma and how it shapes perception and memory.

Helen Spencer’s paintings on repurposed cardboard reflect fragmentation and disorientation through disrupted materiality. The surface and structure of the artworks are intentionally torn and compromised, providing a ground for exploring burden and vulnerability.

Each work represents a small piece of a larger collective experience, acknowledging the complexity of experiences without offering resolution.

Helen Spencer is a Nipaluna/Hobart based artist creating work that examines power, trauma, and social justice through painting and other artforms.

Entry to the galleries is free.
