Performance Studio

The Performance Studio at the Moonah Arts Centre (MAC) in Lutruwita/Tasmania is a purpose-built facility designed to give local and visiting artists, presenters and educators an exceptional presentation experience in the vibrant and central location of Moonah.

Our flexible Performance Studio is perfect for intimate concerts, medium capacity gigs, theatre, film screenings, and presentations, conferences and functions.

CAPACITY
The Performance Studio space measures 9.6m x 17.6m (169m²).

With a 6m x 4m stage, the space can comfortably seat up to 130 people.

An unseated informal event opening onto the foyer and internal courtyard could cater for up to 300 people.

The space can operate in natural daylight or full blackout.

FEES
For artists, we offer the space at a discounted rate of $232 per day inclusive of default staging, seating, audio system, lighting and projection systems.

For business, government and other organisations the day rate is $480 per day with the same inclusions. For community organisations and registered not-for-profit the space is $300 per day.

Staff to provide technical assistance and front-of-house duties from $58 per hour.

We’re also pleased to offer a five-hour supported presentation package which includes Venue Manager, Duty Technician and Venue Hire at $800.

Makers Workshop

Dimensions: 9.8m x 6.8m (66.6m²)
Hire Fee: $420 per day. Subsidised rates available for Art Organisations and Community Groups.

The Makers Workshop is a light-filled, flexible space designed for practical classes, training and creative activities, with a focus on visual arts, craft, and workshops. Glass doors open onto an internal courtyard, offering fresh air and a natural extension of the space for indoor/outdoor experiences.

This workshop comfortably accommodates six large worktables with up to 35 participants. The space is equipped with a ceiling-mounted projector, whiteboards, and a large sink unit – ideal for wet or messy activities.
