Group Improvisation in Music: For Women & Gender Diverse People

Join acclaimed local bassist, Sasha Gavlek for a 2-hour workshop exploring the art of group improvisation in a supportive, collaborative environment.
Designed for women and gender diverse musicians with some prior musical experience, this workshop aims to build the confidence to perform in a group and improve musical communication through a series of guided improvisation exercises.
Whether you’re looking to expand your musical practice or connect with other local musicians, this session offers a welcoming space to explore new ideas without judgement.
Important information for Participants:
• Participants must bring their own instrument
• Suitable for people aged 16 years and above
• Both acoustic and electric instruments are welcome (including voice).
• Electric instruments: if you are planning to bring any electrical equipment for this workshop, you will need to arrive early at 9.15am to get your equipment tagged and tested.
• This workshop is for musicians with some musical experience playing their instrument. If you’re unsure whether this workshop is the right fit for you, please get in touch with HK Vermeulen, Creative Producer to discuss by calling 62166395 or emailing them on hk.vermeulen@gcc.tas.gov.au.
Opportunity to Perform:
1-3pm Saturday 12 September
Following the workshop, participants will be invited to perform at Moonah Music, as a continuation of the workshop in a live improvisation jam celebrating women and gender diverse musicians.
